Two scholarships are available, $1,000 and $500.
Scholarship applicants will be asked to write an essay on their experiences involved with dairy cattle as well as submit photos with their animal. To be eligible for this scholarship the applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Active member of a 4-H or FFA dairy cattle program
- WA high school senior graduating class of 2017
The Dairy Farmers of Washington staff will be attending youth, county and state fairs across Washington this summer to support dairy youth and dairy programs making an impact on the future of leaders in agriculture.
Scott Kinney, DFW CEO, credits his time in 4-H for the values and lessons he still holds to this day. 4-H and FFA youth have a special place in his heart.
"4-H and FFA were important influencers in my life. Both programs offer life-shaping leadership skills and opportunities that I carry with me to this day," said Kinney. "The values of these two organizations run parallel with the heart and soul of our community. I can't imagine a better way to encourage, honor and support young people in Washington state than with the dairy farmer's new scholarship program."
Completed scholarship applications are due by July, 15, 2017 and should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Winners will be announced on August 1, 2017.
